Peace set to break out at Sheffield's Leadmill

Indie-rockers Peace are back with their latest album and headline tour.

Kindness is the New Rock and Roll, their third studio album, is out tomorrow and the quartet arrive at The Leadmill on Wednesday.

It marks the re-emergence of the band after two years away, much of it spent writing at a farmhouse in the middle of a forest in Herefordshire, miles away from civilisation.

“I was a total townie,” says frontman Harry Joisser. “I spent six months out in an actual forest. It was very Hobbit-ish, very Hobbit-esque. Extremely isolating and scary.”

After recording the first two albums with Jim Abiss, they took a change of direction, signed for a new label and have worked with Simone Felice on their latest long-player.

And Harry admits it has changed his performance, with his voice “soaring more powerfully than ever”.

He says: “I never ever thought I could sing like that. Simone found that. He physically massaged it out of my chest with his hands.”
