One of the greatest joys of reading is getting sucked into a fantasy universe.
Getting to follow characters as they grow from children to adults and as their world grows bigger and more eccentric with every book.

Hide AdBloodwitch is the third installment of Dennard’s series which follows two women named Safiya and Iseult who each possess unique magical gifts.
In the beginning of the series the plot is mostly about their relationship as close friends but the author separates them and so we get to follow their individual journeys.
We get to meet a whole plethora of entertaining side characters who take the women through tough struggles, romance and self discovery.
Dennard is a fan of multiple twists and turns to keep her readers on their toes.

Hide AdI have gasped aloud several times reading her work - she has fooled me a couple of times when characters who she killed off make dazzling returns.
I love that about Dennard as even though Fantasy is my favourite genre to read a lot of the time the writers can get hung up on world building and leave important things like dialogue and likeable characters behind.
Not to say Dennard’s world building is lacking, it’s not.
The magic system in this book is far from boring, I’m obsessed with the metal bending, water witchery and most excitingly the mind controlling powers of the character Esme.
I greatly enjoyed the third novel in the series as we finally got to see characters' path's intertwine as well as gain valuable knowledge about personal histories.

Hide AdThe character Aeduan finally gets his moment in the spotlight - something fans of the series have wanted for a long time.
Following his toxic masculinity exterior crumble was absolutely the biggest pleasure in reading this book.
I’m eagerly awaiting the fourth book’s release date later in 2021 to see how this excellent fantasy series will come to a conclusion.
