It appears that nothing can stop Rotherham, not even the side taking the Championship by storm this season. The Millers frustrated Wolves in the Carling Cup and punished the free-scoring Midlands side from the spot as they did Wednesday.
So even w
hat will be a big test for them at Chesterfield cannot faze the increasingly impressive squad that Mark Robins has put together. His signings in the summer have looked very shrewd with the gamble on Reuben Reid looking ever more like a safe bet.
Reid will be joined in the forward ranks by Spanish attacker Omar Garcia, who previously played for La Liga side Athletic Bilbao and should provide extra threat to the already dangerous front line.
Although Yorkshire opposition will be provided by Bradford, the Spireites are The Millers' nearest rivals and have followed very similar paths in the league in recent seasons. They were both relegated from League One in 2007 and mounted serious playoff pushes last season until the points deduction hampered Rotherham.
As The Millers look to pull themselves up the table as soon as possible, Chesterfield are tipped to be around the playoff positions once more and will be looking to move up the divisions as soon as possible with a new stadium on the way.
Despite winning two of their four games so far, all is not well at Chesterfield as a section of the support grows increasingly frustrated by manager Lee Richardson and has even begun calling for his head.
The former Blackburn midfielder has failed to convince some members of the Spireite faithful of his abilities as manager, with the failure to make the playoffs after a season of being there or there abouts last term only increasing doubts.
Richardson's cause has not been helped by the injury to striker Jack Lester, who netted 25 goals in the league last season. His absence through a broken nose will severely hamper Chesterfield's playoff hopes.
The former Nottingham Forest striker got off to a flying start as he bagged a brace in the opening day 3-1 win at Barnet but was injured in the early stages of the 3-1 defeat to Bury.
Lester may play some part in Saturday's contest and if so The Millers will require all of the defensive acumen they have demonstrated in style so far this season while veteran midfielder Darren Currie and striker Jamie Ward should also be watched.
A major positive for Rotherham will be the fact that Chesterfield have lost their two matches at Saltergate this season and the pressure on the side is becoming more intense as the weeks pass, something that will only be increased in the derby atmosphere.
