SHEFFIELD AND HALLAMSHIRE COUNTY FA SUNDAY JUNIOR CUP MINNOWS THURNSCOE HOTEL reached the last 32 of the County FA Sunday Junior Cup after a 2-1 win over unbeaten Barnsley Sunday League side Ardsley Athletic.
Ardsley started well and took the game to Thurnscoe but the Dearne side soon gained their composure and began passing the ball around well. A host of missed chances for both sides went by before Myles Thompson put Thurnscoe ahead with a well worked g
oal.

The Barnsley side equalised from a freekick but Thurnscoe maintained the pressure after the break only to be thwarted in front of goal. Good work from Chris Sambrook and Dave Walker put in Dale Hollingworth to seal the match for Thurnscoe and put them through.

Joining them in the fifth round draw will be CONISBROUGH ALMA who beat Shaw FC 5-2 after extra time thanks to goals from Stephen Epton, Kyle Walton, Stephen Haines and a double from Craig Haywood. The score had been 2-2 at full time but Division One strugglers Alma kicked on in the extra periods for a comfortable victory.

BARNBURGH COACH AND HORSES are also through after beating nearby Hemsworth Miners Welfare 5-4 in a ding dong contest.

Coach made a perfect start when Andy Beardshall scored with the first attack of the game but the lead lasted less than ten minutes as the Coach centre back was punished for a mistimed tackle and Hemsworth scored direct from free kick.

Beardshall restored the lead on 15 minutes only for another defensive mistake, this time from the left back, saw Coach lose possession then concede a penalty in the attempt to retrieve it. Hemsworth netted from the spot to equalise once more.

The Miners grabbed the lead for the first time in near carbon copy style to their opening goal, straight from a freekick.

It took just five minutes of the second half for Coach to draw level with Nick Deakin firing home a fine effort. Rick Lindsay netted his first goal of the season to edge them ahead. But neither side would give up the fight, Hemsworth equalised just a minute later.

Something had to give and with 20 minutes left on the clock, what proved to be the decisive goal was found. Michael Richards won the ball in midfield and following a superb passing move, he popped up with a well placed finish to send Coach through.

THE DEARNE HOTEL are into the next round after beating Rossington Rangers 7-3 but WELFARE FC are out after Brian Bamford and Thomas O'Neill's goals proved not enough in the intense atmosphere on the Manor in the 4-2 defeat to Sheffield side Northern Avenue.
