NICKY Harper netted four goals as WESTVILLE showed they have shaken off their early season worries with a 5-1 win over rock bottom WHITE BEAR.
The first half was highly competitive with Bear showing no signs of being the top flight's whipping boys as they went toe to toe with Westville. Harper cracked in two to put the West Melton side well on course but a header at the far post reduced the deficit for Bear as half time approached. However, Westville scored again through Dave Wheeler in the dying seconds of the half which made the second period a daunting prospect for Bear.
Johnny Smith, between the sticks for Bear, certainly did not give up the fight and for long periods frustrated Westville in their attempts to widen the margin. Harper did manage to get the better of him on two more occasions to seal the points. Ryan Beadling, Jamie Williams and skipper Davy Hill excelled for the rejuvinated Westville while Hyde, Dewes and Morton performed well for Bear.
The Wath-Swinton clash between QUEENS UNITED and RING O BELLS RAIDERS was called off.
Fixtures for November 23: Goldthorpe Comrades v Plough; Thurnscoe Coronation v Westville; White Bear v Groves Social.
DIVISION ONE
MEXBOROUGH SPORTSMAN'S woes continued as they surrendered a lead to finish on the wrong end of a 4-1 scoreline against resurgent JUNGLE.
Lee Jenkins opened the scoring for Sportsman and also missed from the spot before the Jungle fightback had started. Ian Jackson scored an own goal that brought the Bolton side level before Richard Watkins put them in the lead and Stephen Durose widened the gap with a brace.
STATION 2007 picked up only their second win in eight league matches as they beat struggling YORKSHIRE SFC 3-0.
