ARMTHORPE WELFARE 3
PARKGATE 2

THE STEELMEN squandered a two goal lead in the last 20 minutes to suffer defeat at the hands of Armthorpe Welfare and continue their poor run of form that has brought just one win in seven league games.
Parkgate started well with Jordan Stocks testing Welfare keeper Leigh Graves early before Henry Sibenge was denied at the other end by Liam Richardson on his debut between the sticks.

Ashley Longstaff really should have put Parkgate ahead on the stroke of half time but the ball was turned behind for a corner. But on the restart the wait for a goal was not long. A Longstaff cross was headed home by Mark Caine and it could have been doubled soon after but Fletcher's shot was saved.

Richardson denied Armthorpe an equaliser with a tremendous save just after the hour and Parkgate punished the miss three minutes later when Longstaff fired home after a good pass from Stocks.

After grabbing the second it all started to go wrong for Sean Hutchinson's side. The defence failed to clear their lines and Liam Hardy pulled a goal back for Welfare. Just six minutes later and the Parkgate lead was wiped out when Sibenge fired in a freekick from the edge of the area.

Parkgate continued to press but seemed to be cutting their losses and settling for a point. But disaster struck in the dying moments as Armthorpe were awarded a freekick on the edge of the box. When the ball came in there was a scramble in the goalmouth and Sibenge pounced to steal all three points for the hosts.

Hutchinson's side now face two important games over the next week with the visit of struggling Lincoln Moorlands Railway on Saturday before welcoming Thackley, a point ahead in the table, on Tuesday evening.
